Johnson County Department of Health & Environment

Diabetes Prevention Programs are now enrolling members of the public and county employees. Programs are also available “to go”—meaning that a lifestyle coach will come to your business or group of 12 or more participants and teach DPP!  A registered dietitian facilitates DPP and helps participants learn to incorporate healthy eating, physical activity, and other behavior changes into their everyday lives. The goals of the program are 5-7 percent weight loss and an increase in physical activity to 150 minutes per week.

The Department of Health and Environment’s classes are offered in English and follow the CDC’s approved T2 Curriculum. The course is a year-long program which includes 16 weekly sessions followed by 6 monthly sessions. Programs are offered in locations across Johnson County. We accept all insurance coverage and offer DPP on a sliding fee scale, depending on income.
