Hen House will now be hosting Diabetes Prevention Program classes! The classes are led by a clinical pharmacist and public health educator. Over the course of the program, participants will have the opportunity to tour the grocery store, sample new healthy products and enjoy guest speakers on topics ranging from healthy cooking and grocery shopping to new exercise routines. Juntos

Juntos

Juntos offers the diabetes prevention program in Spanish. The class is culturally tailored to Latinos. Juntos offers a supportive group setting, where participants earn rewards for meeting goals, can join free exercise groups like Zumba and walking clubs. Juntos plans cooking demos and group grocery shopping trips to offer practical tips for lifestyle change. We do our best to give the participants the support and motivation that they need to be diabetes free!

Riverview Health Services’ diabetes prevention programs emphasize having fun, making friends who support your healthy lifestyle goals and getting fit! Programs available in English and Spanish at Riverview’s offices, or at your church, school or community group.

YMCA

YMCA

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a year-long program with 19 weekly sessions followed by 6 monthly sessions. In a relaxed classroom setting, a trained Lifestyle Coach helps participants learn skills that will help them incorporate healthy eating, increasing physical activity, and other behavior changes into their everyday lives.  The goals of the program are 7 percent weight loss and an increase in physical activity to 150 minutes per week. Participants receive a six month FREE Household membership to the YMCA. Childcare provided at select sites. This program is offered in English and Spanish.
